How NDIS support with me works

I'm an independent support worker, not a registered NDIS provider. That means I can support participants who self-manage their NDIS funding or use a plan manager. If your plan is managed by the NDIA (agency-managed), you'll need a registered provider.

Not sure how your plan is managed? Give me a call and we can work it out together.

Support I provide

As an Enrolled Nurse as well as a support worker, I can help with everyday care, including care that needs clinical skill:

  • Bowel care, including complex bowel care, laxative administration, enemas or manual assistance
  • Enteral (PEG) feeding and management including giving enteral medication via PEG
  • Catheter care: indwelling (IDC) and suprapubic (SPC) care, bladder flushes and in-out catheterisation
  • Dysphagia management: following specialised swallowing and mealtime management plans from health practitioners
  • Complex wound care using aseptic technique
  • Medication administration: oral, enteral, transdermal (patches) and nebuliser
  • Pressure area care, skin integrity checks and pressure injury prevention

I also help with personal care, community access, companionship and mental health support. See personal care & community support.

My NDIS experience

Since 2018 I've supported NDIS participants with complex physical and psychosocial needs, working 1:1 and 2:1 and leading small support teams. My experience includes:

  • Acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury (quadriplegia and paraplegia)
  • Chronic health conditions
  • Psychosocial disability and mental health support
  • Medication and symptom management
  • Bowel care, including digital stimulation and laxative and enema administration
  • Catheter care
  • PEG feeding
  • Hoisting and manual handling
  • Pressure area care
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Wound care
  • Working closely with families, support teams and health professionals

Why choose a nurse as your support worker?

As an Enrolled Nurse, I have clinical training to notice when something isn't right and to act on it, including recognising and responding when someone's health is getting worse. I keep clear progress notes and documentation and can work alongside your care plan and other health professionals.

Can you do bowel care?

Yes. I have provided complex bowel care, including manual stimulation, and laxative and enema administration.
